Daniil Medvedev looks to reach a second consecutive French Open quarter-final when he faces Marin Cilic at Roland Garros on Monday.

The last-eight line-ups will be confirmed by the close of play on day nine of the season’s second Slam.

US Open champion Medvedev is one of only four players yet to drop a set in the French capital this year, along with Novak Djokovic, Hubert Hurkacz and Holger Rune.

The second seed will aim to continue in that vein against two-time quarter-finalist Cilic, who is targeting a first appearance in the last for four years.

Meanwhile, Danish teenager Rune looks to extend his best run at a Slam but to do so, he will have to inflict only a fourth defeat in 21 matches on clay this season for 2021 runner-up Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Andrey Rublev and Jannik Sinner – both quarter-finalists at Roland Garros in 2020 – seek a return to the last eight two years on when they lock horns, while Hurkacz and Casper Ruud clash on their first appearances in round four here.

The only top-10 seed remaining in the draw, the ladies’ title is very much Iga Swiatek’s to lose.

The world number one is eyeing a 32nd successive victory, but faces a tough test in Qinwen Zheng. In just her second main-draw appearance, the Chinese teenager has already knocked out 2018 champion Simona Halep and home favourite Alize Cornet.

Daria Kasatkina may pose a genuine threat to Swiatek, having dropped just 10 games in her three matches so far.

The 20th seed locks horns with Camila Giorgi, who is making her first appearance at this stage in the French capital after dropping just a single game from a set down against Aryna Sabalenka in round three.

Meanwhile, both Veronika Kudermetova and Irina-Camelia Begu are targeting maiden quarter-final appearances at a Slam. Two American opponents stand in their way in 2018 semi-finalist Madison Keys and 11th seed Jessica Pegula respectively.

Play gets underway at 10am BST on Monday with all ladies’ matches contested over the best of three sets, and all showdowns in the men’s draw played over five sets at Roland Garros.
