Who won the French Open in 2021?
The French Open took place in late May in 2021, returning to it’s usual place in the tennis calendar after the 2020 tournament was delayed until September, due to the COVID pandemic.
The men’s tournament was won by Novak Djokovic, the Serbian claiming his second French Open title, after beating Stefanos Tsitsipas by a score of 6–7(6–8), 2–6, 6–3, 6–2, 6–4. The final proved to be an epic with momentum swinging both ways before Djokovic was able to gain control and see how the match for the win.
Barbora Krejčíková won the women’s tournament, her first single’s major. She overcame Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova (6–1, 2–6, 6–4) in a tense affair, which saw Krejčíková finish strongly, which proved to be the difference between two quite evenly matched opponents.
