The prize money is equal for both men and women at the French Open. The fund has risen by a massive 12.3% from last year.
Whilst it is easy to concentrate on the winner’s cheque, which is considerable, qualifying for the main draw for the lesser ranked players can often pay for their whole year. Alongside the money there will also be 2000 ranking points awarded to the winner of the tournament.
It should also be mentioned that the prize fund for the wheelchair tennis competitions has risen by 40%, to a total of 810,000EUR. The winners of the wheelchair singles final will take away 60,000EUR each.
The doubles prize fund has risen by 4%, with the winning teams taking away 590,000EUR per team. The mixed doubles winners win 122,000EUR.
