Ons Jabeur looks to continue her strong start to the 2023 French Open when she takes on Olga Danilovic in the third round at Roland Garros on Saturday.

Last season’s two-time grand slam finalist has made a purposeful start in her latest bid to land that maiden major, dropping just 10 games across her opening two matches.

Jabeur defeated Italian debutant Lucia Bronzetti 6-4, 6-1 in round one, before sweeping home favourite Oceane Dodin aside 6-2, 6-3.

The Tunisian is now looking to match her best performance at the French Open by reaching round four for the third time, although she will undoubtedly have her sights set on much bigger things in Paris.

Jabeur will be a heavy favourite to overcome world number 105 Danilovic, though her opponent has also enjoyed a solid start to the clay-court major.

Like her opponent, the Serbian has reeled off four sets without reply – beating Kateryna Baindl 6-3, 6-2 and Jasmine Paolini 6-2, 7-5.

The 21-year-old reached round two here on debut 12 months ago, but has gone one better this time around and subsequently ventured into uncharted grand slam singles territory.

Danilovic, who has qualified for Wimbledon after triumphing at an ITF event in Madrid last month, boasts fond memories of Roland Garros, where she was a junior girls’ doubles champion alongside Paula Arias Manjon seven years ago.

But claiming the scalp of Jabeur here would undoubtedly represent the biggest win of her young career to date.

The winner of this match will play either Bernarda Para or Elisabetta Cocciaretto in round four at the 2023 French Open.

Play gets underway at around 3.30pm BST and will be contested over the best of three sets on Court Suzanne-Lenglen.
