In-form Carlos Alcaraz will take on Karen Khachanov in the 4th round of the French Open 2022 on Sunday at 7.45pm (UK Time).
This is the first time in two months that Karen Khachanov manages to link three consecutive wins on the main tour. The Russian has played against two mediocre opponents in the first two rounds on Parisian clay, but he dropped a set against each of them – Borges in the first round and Dellien in the second.
However, he raised his gameplay in the third round when he ended last week’s Lyon champion Norrie’s six-match-winning run.
The worrying news is that Khachanov has lost three of his last four matches at this stage of the French Open. However, he did well to reach the quarterfinals in one of these attempts.
On the contrary, Carlos Alcaraz is now on a 13-match winning streak on clay courts following a comfortable 3-0 victory over Korda in the previous round of the French Open 2022.
Alcaraz has won titles in Barcelona and Madrid over the past month and he is now one match away from a quarter-final appearance at the French Open. This is the first time the talented Spaniard plays in the Round of 16 at the French Open, but he should feel confident after his recent performances.
