World No. 4 Stefanos Tsitsipas will face Mikael Ymer in the third round of the French Open 2022 on Saturday at 3.00pm (UK Time).
Prior to the French Open 2022, Mikael Ymer was on a seven-match losing streak across clay and hard surfaces. He has suffered first-round eliminations in each of the four clay tournaments he participated in prior to the French Open.
However, he began his French Open 2022 adventure in a completely different manner by destroying Duckworth 6-2, 6-4, 6-2 in the opening round. He then passed a tough test against Daniel Evans in the second round and he is now just one victory away from registering his best ever result at the French Open as well as in Grand Slams.
Meanwhile, Stefanos Tsitsipas has only lost three of his 14 matches on clay courts this season. The Greek did well to win the title in Monaco and to reach the quarter-finals in Barcelona and semifinals in Madrid. However, it doesn’t seem that he is playing his best tennis at the moment on the Parisian courts.
Stefanos needed a five-setter against Musetti in the opening round and then he was pretty lucky to avoid another five-set match against Zdenek Kolar in the 2nd round.
The good news is that Tsitsipas has reached the semifinal and the final of the last two editions of the French Open.
