Rafael Nadal will be looking for another straight-set win when he takes on Richard Gasquet on Thursday at 8.00pm (UK Time).
Nadal has lost just once in his last 14 matches on clay. After winning the Barcelona Open and Rome Masters, he did well to kick-off his 2021 French Open campaign with a routine victory over Alexei Popyrin. Rafa is currently on a 31-match winning streak on the Parisian clay and has dropped only three sets in this tournament since losing to Djokovic in 2015.
Gasquet has won five of his last seven matches on clay. He has recently reached the quarter-finals in Lyon and Parma where he lost against Karen Khachanov and Jamie Munar respectively. Gasquet also looked solid in his opening match here at the RG against Hugo Gaston, finishing the match after just one hour and 41 minutes (6-1, 6-4, 6-2).
The most recent meeting between the pair came at Roland Garros three years ago when Nadal cruised to victory for the total loss of just seven games.
Nadal has also won an emphatic 26 consecutive sets against the Frenchman, with Gasquet last’s set success coming back in 2008.
