Ons Jabeur is already one round further than she managed in 2022, can she make a deep run at Roland-Garros in 2023? She has a home favourite to deal with in the second round.
The Tunisian is battling with her fitness at the moment but progressed in comfortable fashion from her opening encounter against the potentially very tricky Italian Lucia Bronzetti. This will have given the 2022 Wimbledon finalist a lot of confidence.
Dodin progressed from an all-French encounter with Selena Janicijevic. This was a positive turnaround for the 26-year-old because she had lost to the same opponent only nine days previously. It was only her fourth win in twelve matches though so Dodin has been scratching around for form somewhat before that.
Dodin is a beautifully languid player, but with easy power from her levers. However, Jabeur’s extra power and all-round game has the potential to tie her up in knots somewhat.
Jabeur very rarely loses as such a strong favourite and she can be relied upon tomorrow to produce a good enough display to continue to build into the tournament.
