World number one Iga Swiatek will take on Alison Riske in the Second Round of the 2022 French Open on Thursday.
Swiatek is the most in-form female tennis player on the planet at the moment, having not lost a single match since mid-February.
She is currently on a 29-match winning streak across both hard and clay courts, including a comfortable 2-0 victory over Tsurenko in the first round of the French Open 2022.
The Pole has won five titles so far this season, all of which came consecutively. Swiatek has not lost a match in the first week of Roland Garros so far. She has won the title back in 2020 and reached the quarterfinals a year ago.
On the other hand, Riske has won three and lost two of her most recent five matches on clay courts. She secured an easy 6-3, 6-3 victory over Yastremska in the opening round of the French Open 2022, despite the fact her most recent match prior to that was a month ago in Madrid.
The worrying thing is that Riske has npt reached the third round of a Grand Slam since the 2020 Australian Open and she will now face the most in-form player in the circuit.
