Alexander Zverev and Stefanos Tsitsipas will square off in the first semifinal of the French Open 2021 today 13.50pm (UK Time).
Zverev had an easy route to the Semifinals as he faced two outside top-100 players in the shape of Oscar Otte and Roman Safiullin, as well as three outside top-40 opponents in Laslo Djere, Kei Nishikori and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina. The German has won 12 of his last 13 matches on clay, including back-to-back wins over Dominic Thiem and Rafael Nadal in Madrid. During his run, Zverev managed to lift the trophy in Madrid and to reach the Quarter-Finals in Rome.
Tsitsipas has played 24 matches on clay this season and has only lost three in the process. He is the most in-form player on the red dirt and he looked very convincing in his previous two matches at Roland Garros against Pablo Carreno-Busta and Daniil Medvedev. The Greek has won titles in Monte Carlo and Lyon prior to the French Open 2021. This is Tsitsipas’ best chance of reaching a Grand Slam final, considering that he had to play against Rafael Nadal in the Semi-Finals of the Australian Open 2019 and Novak Djokovic in the semis of the French Open 2020.
Tsitsipas has won five of his last six meetings with Zverev and he is the bookies’ favourite in this one. However, we expect a close contest between these two and we fancy Over 3.5 Sets at the price of 3/5 with Bet365.
