Carlos Alcaraz v Tallon Griekspoor live stream | ATP Indian Wells 2023 preview

Carlos Alcaraz is seeking a career milestone when he faces Tallon Griekspoor in the Indian Wells Masters Last 32 on Tuesday.

Indeed, the Spaniard will chalk up the 100th ATP tour-level victory of his glittering young career should he advance to the fourth round, where a showdown with Andy Murray or Jack Draper awaits.

But the top seed has much bigger ambitions this fortnight in Indian Wells, where he would return to the top of the world rankings by lifting the trophy on Sunday.

A semi-finalist here last year, that would mark his second title of 2023 already, having triumphed in Buenos Aires before finishing as runner-up to Cameron Norrie in Rio de Janeiro.

Having sustained a right hamstring injury in the latter, this marks only his third event of the campaign, and he marked his return with a commanding 6-3, 6-3 victory over Thanasi Kokkinakis in the second round.

Alcaraz was also a straight-sets winner in his only previous tour-level encounter with Griekspoor, prevailing 6-4, 7-6(0), 6-3 at the same stage at Wimbledon last year.

Although, the Dutchman will certainly be no pushover this time around.

He is the 31st seed at Indian Wells having claimed his maiden ATP title in Pune in January, while beating Alexander Zverev on the way to reaching the semi-finals in Rotterdam.

And Griekspoor is sharp when it comes to taking on the big boys, the 26-year-old has already faced the likes of Novak Djokovic, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Andrey Rublev and Jannik Sinner this season.

A British opponent – Murray or Draper – awaits the winner in the last 16 of this year’s Indian Wells Masters.

Play gets underway at around 3am GMT on Tuesday and will be contested over the best of three sets in California.
