Daniil Medvedev aims to continue his blistering form against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the Indian Wells Masters quarter-finals.

The former US Open champion is appearing at this stage of the season’s opening ATP Masters 1000 event for the first time having extended his winning streak to 17 matches.

With three titles to his name already, no player has registered more victories than Medvedev (22) on the ATP Tour this season.

The fifth seed certainly earned the right to maintain that streak against Alexander Zverev in the fourth round. Indeed, he recovered from losing the opening set and rolling his ankle in the second to eventually battle through 6-7(5), 7-6(5), 7-5.

That came after he began the fortnight with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Brandon Nakashima, before seeing off Ilya Ivashka 6-2, 3-6, 6-1.

Ironically, Medvedev now takes on the man who his ongoing streak began against in Rotterdam.

Davidovich Fokina is appearing in his third quarter-final of the campaign, having also reached this stage in Adelaide and Doha.

The Spaniard has dropped just a single set across his three matches so far, that coming in his notable 6-3, 1-6, 6-4 win over 13th seed Karen Khachanov, while he has also seen off Chinese wildcard Yibing Wu (6-4, 6-1) and qualifier Cristian Garin (6-3, 6-4).

Runner-up to Stefanos Tsitsipas in Monte Carlo last year, the 23rd seed will be hoping to go the extra step this time around as he aims to reach his second ATP Masters 1000 semi-final.

The winner of this match will play either Cameron Norrie or Frances Tiafoe in the Indian Masters semi-finals.

Play gets underway at around 10pm GMT on Wednesday and will be contested over the best of three sets in California.
