Kaia Kanepi will take on Madison Keys in the first round of 2021 Indian Wells Masters on Thursday.
Estonia’s Kanepi has been in excellent shape over the past two months, as she won 12 of her last 15 matches across clay and hard surfaces. During this impressive run, Kaia did well to win two ITF titles in W25 Paru and W25 Fort Worth.
However, in-between these results, Kanepi has suffered early eliminations on the WTA Tour in Chicago, the US Open and Chicago II most recently.
Keys, meanwhile, is currently on a terrible run of form, having lost her last six matches on hard courts while winning just one set in the process.
Keys’ most recent defeat was against Sasnovich in Chicago where she retired in the Second Round. The only good news is that Keys managed to beat Kanepi in straight sets in the most recent encounter between them, although it was four years ago.
Kanepi is the in-form player here, but she didn’t do very well in WTA events recently. Our prediction is Over 21.5 Games at odds of 4/5 with Bet365.
