Maria Sakkari vs Aryna Sabalenka live stream | WTA Indian Wells semi-final preview

A powerful clash in store here as Maria Sakkari tries to make it to back-to-back Indian Wells finals, but she will have to beat the Australian Open champion Aryna Sabalenka to do so.

Sabalenka starts as favourite having only been beaten once so far this season, by Barbora Krejcikova in the Dubai semifinals. Having defeated the Czech player earlier in the tournament Sabalenka must be full of confidence and she has the ability to blow anybody off the court on her day.

By contrast Sakkari has laboured to this position having been to three sets in every round so far. However, this shows tremendous courage and belief to be able to do this so regularly.

The head-to-head between these two is actually very close at 4-3 to Sabalenka, but Sakkari has won both of their last two meetings. Both of the meetings were on hard court as well, so could have some relevance to proceedings.

My feelings are that this version of Aryna Sabalenka simply cannot be tied down. I expect the Belarusian to be too strong and too powerful in this match and that she will win in straight sets.

Play gets underway at around 1am GMT on Saturday morning and will be contested over the best of three sets in California.
