Elina Svitolina will be looking to continue her recent shape when she takes on Tereza Martincova in the second round of the 2021 Indian Wells Masters.
Martincova made a solid start at the Indian Wells, having beaten the wildcard Krueger in straight sets. Martincova hasn’t enjoyed such a good run of form on hard courts recently, but overall, she had a great year.
Martincova has reached the Quarter-Finals in five of her nine WTA tournaments she competed in and made her final career appearance in Prague where she finished as runner up to Barbora Krejcikova.
Svitolina, meanwhile, has won 12 of her last 15 matches on hard courts. The Ukrainian did well to lift the title in Chicago towards the end of August before reaching the Quarter-Finals of the US Open.
Svitolina’s best run at the Indian Wells was in 2019 when she defeated Barty, Kenin and Vondrousva before reaching the semifinals. The sole time she has suffered a first-round defeat at the Indian Wells was in 2013, but even then, she did well to win a couple of qualifying matches prior to that.
We expect a close contest between these two, so our prediction is Over 19.5 Games at odds of 4/5 with Bet365.
