British #1 Cameron Norrie gets his Indian Wells campaign up and running against outsider Tung-Lin Wu at 7pm UK time.
The 2021 Indian Wells champion is in really good form this year having reached three ATP finals already in Auckland, Buenos Aires, and Rio de Janeiro.
He comes to Indian Wells having had a few weeks on the clay in South America, which actually may not be the worst preparation for this slow and gritty Indian Wells surface.
Tung-Lin Wu is a 24-year-old from Taipei who’s career is definitely on the up. He has reached his highest ranking last week at #163 and has managed to qualify for the main draw at an ATP1000 tournament for the first time. His opening round match was a shock win against Alexander Bublik but this will be a definite step up for Wu.
Norrie should be winning this match comfortably. However, Wu is acclimatised, having had three matches already. This may put Norrie on the back foot initially, but he has the quality and fitness to come back.
The match gets underway from around 7pm GMT on Friday and will be contested over the best of three sets in Indian Wells, California.
