Elena Rybakina v Paula Badosa live stream | WTA Miami 2023

The clear match of the day is in the women’s draw with two top players, Elena Rybakina and Spain’s Paula Badosa facing off against each other in the third round.

Rybakina has to be considered the favourite for the clash given her red hot form. The Kazakh won Indian Wells last week and, to be honest, looked as though she was shaking off the celebrations in her second round match as she made hard work of defeating the talented Anna Kalinskaya.

Paula Badosa has slipped away from her high of world #2 and needs to try and find that level of consistency that got her to that position. Her win over Laura Siegemund was hard fought and that level will need to increase for this match.

However, Badosa does lead the head-to-head 4-2, so there is definite space for optimism for the Spaniard.

All of the data points to Rybakina though. She has the better win percentage over the last year, her serve is held 8% more than Badosa’s, but Badosa breaks her opponents 3% more often. The aggregate favours Rybakina and these courts will really suit her hitting style, albeit Badosa’s slightly better movement will also be accentuated by the conditions.

I don’t think this will be an easy win for Rybakina, but I do expect her to be the victor in the end.
