Emma Raducanu and Bianca Andreescu go head to head in a tasty Miami Open First Round clash on Wednesday.

One of the standout ties of the first round sees a battle of the former US Open champions, with both looking to return to their best following lengthy injury battles.

Following injury issues and a bout of tonsillitis, Raducanu will have taken plenty of positives from her run to the fourth round in Indian Wells earlier this month.

The 20-year-old beat the likes of Australian Open semi-finalist Magda Linette and 13th seed Beatriz Haddad Maia as she reeled off three successive main-draw victories for only the fourth time in her professional career.

The 2021 Flushing Meadows champion was eventually beaten by world number one Iga Swiatek, but she will subsequently be eager to build on that momentum on her second appearance in Miami.

Injury forced Raducanu to retire in her only previous showdown with Andreescu in Rome last year, so she will want to make amends this time around.

Although, the Canadian boasts pedigree in Miami despite having only appeared on two occasions. Indeed, she was runner-up to Ash Barty in 2021.

Like Raducanu, Andreescu also came unstuck against Swiatek at Indian Wells, succumbing to the reigning champion in round three.

Nevertheless, the world number 31 did stop the rot, having suffered successive first-round exits in Doha in Dubai. And despite a shoulder injury hampering her start to the season, she did reach the semi-finals in Hua Hin.

The winner of this match will take on seventh seed Maria Sakkari in the second round of the Miami Open.

Play gets underway at 4pm GMT on Wednesday and will be contested over the best of three sets.
