Cameron Norrie looks to get back on track when he faces the in-form Alex de Minaur in the National Bank Open first round on Tuesday.
The British number one arrives in Toronto eager to return to form, having suffered early exits in his last two events.
A semi-finalist at Wimbledon in 2022, Norrie was unable to embark on another deep run this time around as he was beaten by surprise package Christopher Eubanks in the second round, while he fell at the first hurdle to Aleksandar Kocacevic in Los Cabos.
And he will look to turn things around in the National Bank Open, where he reached the last 16 in 2022 before losing to Felix Auger-Aliassime in straight sets.
Norrie overcame De Minaur at the United Cup during the early stages of this season, in which he also triumphed in Rio de Janeiro and was runner-up in Buenos Aires and Auckland.
But the form book would certainly favour the Australian heading into their third meeting on the ATP Tour.
Indeed, De Minaur has been a finalist in two of his last four events – losing out to Carlos Alcaraz and Stefanos Tsitsipas at Queen’s Club and Los Cabos respectively.
A champion in Acapulco earlier this season, he tends to favour hard and grass courts, on which all but one of his runs to the quarter-finals and beyond this season have occurred.
The winner of this match will play either newly crowned Washington champion Dan Evans or Canadian wildcard Gabriel Diallo in the second round at the National Bank Open.
Play gets underway at around 7pm BST on Tuesday and will be contested over the best of three sets on Grandstand.
