Cameron Norrie and Karen Khachanov will square off in the opening round of the National Bank Open 2021 on Tuesday, with both looking to get back to winning ways.
After a title in Los Cabos and a Quarter-Final appearance in the Atlanta Open, Norrie has suffered a second-round exit in the Citi Open at the hands of Kei Nishikori. However, Norrie has delivered impressive performances across all surfaces so far this year. He finished as runner-up on three occasions in Estoril, Lyon, and London (Queen’s Club Championship). In addition, Norrie’s record in the opening-round matches on the main tour this year reads 16 victories and just one defeat.
Khachanov has won nine of his last eleven matches on grass and hard surfaces. He has reached the quarter-finals in Wimbledon at the beginning of July and won Silver at the Tokyo Olympics after losing to Alexander Zverev in the Final. The Russian is currently on a nine-match winning streak in the opening-round matches on outdoor hard courts.
