Carlos Alcaraz and Casper Ruud will collide for the right to be crowned US Open champion for the first time on Sunday.
Ruud is far fresher than Alcaraz coming into this box office final as he has spent far less time on the court, especially in the last couple of days.
The pair have met twice in previous competition, with Alcaraz prevailing in both the 2021 Marbella Quarter-Finals and 2022 ATP Miami final.
En route to the final, Ruud has dispatched Kyle Edmund, Tim van Rijthoven, Tommy Paul, Corentin Moutet, Matteo Berrettini and Karen Khachanov.
During this run, Ruud needed to play only a five-setter match, which was in the third round against Paul.
At 23, the Norwegian is only the fourth youngest player to reach multiple Grand Slam finals in a season in the Open era.
Ruud holds a record of eight victories and two defeats in his last 10 final appearances. Furthermore, he has registered six victories over top-10 players in her career and two of those have come this year.
Alcaraz is just one victory away from becoming the youngest ever world number one. The 19-year-old had to play three consecutive five-setters against Marin Cilic, Jannik Sinner and Frances Tiafoe en route to his first major final.
The Spanish sensation is now looking to secure his first career Grand Slam title and his sixth title overall, with his previous best being Quarter-Final runs at the 2021 US Open and this year’s French Open.
Alcaraz has managed to get eight victories over top-10 players so far this year and has registered eight victories in his last nine matches on hard courts.
