Carlos Alcaraz and Frances Tiafoe will go head-to-head in the second Semi-Final of the 2022 US Open on Friday.
Alcaraz defeated Jannik Sinner in a five-set thriller in the Quarter-Finals, in what was arguably the best match of the season so far.
The Spaniard has not dropped a single set in his first three matches in Flushing Meadows last week. However, he had to play two consecutive five-setters in the previous two rounds.
This edition was Alcaraz’s only second main-draw appearance at the US Open and he has now become the youngest semi-finalist at the US Open since Pete Sampras back in 1990.
Alcaraz holds the record for the most matches won on the main tour in these first nine months of the year. In addition, he lifted two Masters and two ATP 500 titles so far in 2022, and he is just two victories away from his first Grand Slam title.
On the other hand, Tiafoe dispatched Andrey Rublev in straight sets in the Quarter-Finals to become the first American male player to reach the semis at the US Open since Andy Roddick in 2006.
Tiafoe has had an amazing US Open campaign so far, having dropped just one set in his five matches. During this impressive run, he also stunned Rafael Nadal with a four-set victory in the round of 16.
