Novak Djokovic will continue his quest for the Calendar Slam when he faces Tallon Griekspoor in the Second Round of the 2021 US Open.
After a disappointing performance at the Olympics, Djokovic began his 2021 US Open campaign with a 3-1 win over Danish teenager Holger Rune. Although Nole dropped a set, he struck over 50 winners but also made seven double faults.
Djokovic’s run at the US Open 2020 ended in the Fourth Round when he unintentionally hit a ball at a line judge.
The Serbian star has won the US Open three times in his career, and another Grand Slam title here will take him past Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal on the all-time list.
Griekspoor has enjoyed a decent run of form over the past three months, having won eleven of her 15 matches across all surfaces. The Dutch talent has recently won the Amersfoort Challenger and he looked solid in his US Open 2021 opener against Jan-Lennard Struff.
Griekspoor hammered 58 winners past Struff, 30 of which were aces. The serve definitely helped him a lot to fight back from two sets down and to qualify into the second round.
