Novak Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev will go toe-to-toe in the men’s final of the 2021 US Open on Sunday.
Djokovic got his revenge for the Tokyo Olympics Semi-Final loss against Zverev by defeating the German in a five-set thriller in the Semi-Finals at Flushing Meadows.
The Serb has lost the first set in five of his six matches in New York over the last fortnight, however he is currently on a 27-match winning streak in Grand Slams so far in 2021.
Nole hasn’t lost a completed match at the US Open since 2016 and he is the oldest player to fight for the US Open title since Andre Agassi’s run back in 2015.
Djokovic is now one win away from surpassing Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal in the race for most Grand Slams won.
Meanwhile, Medvedev has dropped just one set en route to reaching the final of the US Open. The Russian has no issue in defeating Felix auger-Aliassime in the semi-finals, having lost just 11 games in the process.
Medvedev is now one win away to become the first Russian player to win the US Open title since 2000 when Marat Safin demolished Pete Sampras in the final.
Djokovic and Medvedev have already fought for a Grand Slam title this year, as the pair met in the Australian Open final at the beginning of the year. Nole won that final with ease (7-5, 6-2, 6-2) so it will be interesting to see if Medvedev will get his revenge tonight.
