Novak Djokovic will be looking for his fourth Grand Slam of the year when he takes on Holger Rune in the opening round of the 2021 US Open.
Djokovic has not played any practice matches of late, with his most recent clash being against Pablo Carreno-Busta in the bronze medal playoff at the Olympics.
However, this isn’t something new for the Serb, who has won Wimbledon this year without having played a single match on grass since 2019. He has won 22 matches and lost just three of his last 25 outings across all surfaces.
Meanwhile, Rune has won 16 of his last 17 matches on clay and hard courts. During this run, Rune has won two Challenger titles in San Marino and Verona.
In addition, he backed up these results with three consecutive wins in the US Open qualifiers while dropping just one set in the process. This will be Rune’s debut in the main draw of a Grand Slam.
Although Djokovic and Rune have trained together earlier this year, this should be an easy match for the Serb. Our prediction is Under 27.5 Games at odds of 8/11 with Bet365.
