World number one Iga Swiatek will take on Aryna Sabalenka in the Semi-Finals of the 2022 US Open on Thursday.

Swiatek defeated Jessica Pegula in the previous round to book her spot in the Semi-Finals of the US Open for the first time in her career. She is now chasing the third Grand Slam title of her career, having previously claimed the French Open title on two occasions.

It has been an amazing year for the Polish player who has dominated the women’s tour, holding a record of 55-7. During this impressive run, Iga won back-to-back titles in Doha, Indian Wells, Miami, Stuttgart, Rome, and Paris.

Swiatek should be confident ahead of this tie as she has won eight consecutive matches against players ranked in the top 10. In addition, she has won the previous three meetings with Sabalenka without losing a single set in the process.

Meanwhile, Sabalenka has won eight of her last nine matches on hard courts, including a Semi-Final run in Cincinnati.

It has been a mixed year for Sabalenka who owned a record of 24 victories and 17 defeats prior to the start of the US Open. She is yet to win a title in 2022 and her best performance this year was a runner-up finish to Ekaterina Alexandrova in Hertogenbosch back in June.

Sabalenka has looked solid in Flushing Meadows this campaign, but she needs to raise her level if she wants to have a chance against Swiatek.
