Karolina Pliskova and Marie Bouzkova will go toe-to-toe in the 2nd round of the US Open 2022 on Thursday at 8.00pm (UK Time).

Karolina Pliskova had a good run in Toronto two weeks ago where she lost to Beatriz Haddad Maia in the semifinals. Then she competed in Cincinnati but was unable to replicate the same results as she lost in the second round against Mertens.

She started her campaign at the US Open 2022 with a tough match against Magda Linette. Pliskova wasted a huge 7-2 lead in the tiebreak in the decisive set, but survived and won the tiebreaker (10-8).

Pliskova has reached at least the fourth round in five of her last six visits at the US Open.

On the other hand, Marie Bouzkova has won 11 of her last 13 matches on hard courts. The Czech won the LiveSport Prague Open towards the end of July, but since then she has won just two main-draw matches.

She did well to win in qualifiers at Toronto and Cincinnati, but wasn’t able to get too many victories in the main draw. She was forced to retire in the 2nd round in Cincinnati, but somehow managed to get a victory over Noskova in the opening round of the US Open.

This year, Bouzkova did well to reach the final in Guadalajara, the quarterfinal in Monterrey and the 3rd round in Indian Wells.
