Nick Kyrgios v Benjamin Bonzi live stream | US Open 2022 preview

Nick Kyrgios continues his 2022 US Open campaign with a Second Round show-down against Benjamin Bonzi on Wednesday.

Kyrgios has enjoyed his most successful season to date, reaching a maiden Grand Slam final at Wimbledon and going on to claim the Citi Open title in Washington without dropping serve all tournament.

The 27-year-old had won 15 of his last 16 matches in all competitions at one stage, producing undoubtedly the most consistent tennis of his career so far.

He returns to New York aiming to banish a below-par record in the US Open, having never made it beyond the Third Round stage in eight previous appearances.

Kyrgios is situated in a formidable top section of the draw which also houses world number one and defending champion Daniil Medvedev, but made a promising start by brushing aside his Aussie compatriot and doubles partner Thanasi Kokkinakis in straight sets.

Bonzi, meanwhile, came through an epic five-set contest against fellow Frenchman Ugo Humbert in Round One, fending off a spirited fightback by his opponent from two sets down.

The world number 50 is vying to advance beyond the Second Round of a Grand Slam for the first time, having fallen at this hurdle in this year’s Australian Open and Wimbledon Championships.

Bonzi is facing Kyrgios for the first time and victory here would signal a significant statement of intent as he looks to make further inroads in the world’s top 50.

Either Chile’s Alejandro Tabilo or American wildcard J. J. Wolf will await the winner in the Third Round later in the week.
