Nick Kyrgios v Thanasi Kokkinakis live stream | US Open 2022 preview

Nick Kyrgios kicks off his 2022 US Open campaign against fellow Australian Thanasi Kokkinakis in Round One on Monday.

Kyrgios has enjoyed his best season to date, reaching a first Grand Slam final at Wimbledon and going on to claim the Citi Open title in Washington without dropping serve all tournament.

The 27-year-old had won 15 of his last 16 matches in all competitions at one stage, producing undoubtedly the most consistent tennis of his career so far.

However, he heads to New York hoping to banish a below-par record in the US Open, having never made it beyond the Third Round stage in eight previous appearances.

He is situated in a formidable section of the draw which also houses world number one and defending champion Daniil Medvedev, but first faces his close friend Kokkinakis – with whom he won his first Grand Slam doubles title at the Australian Open earlier this year, as well as the recent Atlanta Open title.

This will be their first head-to-head meeting, with 26-year-old Kokkinakis aiming to record only his second ever win at the US Open.

The world number 70 claimed the Adelaide-2 title in January for his maiden ATP triumph but has failed to make an impact in Grand Slams this season, reaching the Second Round of Wimbledon and losing in the opening round of the Australian Open and French Open.

Either Benjamin Bonzi or Ugo Humbert will await the winner in the Second Round later in the week.
