Shelby Rogers will take on Brit teenager Emma Raducanu on Monday evening in the Fourth Round of the 2021 US Open.
Rogers had struggled for consistency on hard courts prior to the US Open, having suffered early defeats in San Jose, Montreal, Cincinnati, and Cleveland. However, she looked like a completely different player in New York this week.
Rogers recorded two straight-set victories over Brengle and Cirstea in the first two rounds, but then put in one of her best performances of the season against Barty in the third round. Rogers was on the brink of elimination at 2-5, but fought back from nowhere to eliminate the world number one.
Raducanu, meanwhile, is already on a six-match winning streak at this year’s US Open, having started out as a qualifier to reach the second week at Flushing Meadows.
The British youngster is yet to drop a single set in six matches and head into this clash fresh off a dominant 6-0, 6-1 victory over Sara Sorribes Tormo in the previous round.
Raducanu made her Grand Slam debut at Wimbledon two months ago and reached the Fourth Round and she is now eyeing a maiden major Quarter-Final.
