Andrey Rublev v Frances Tiafoe live stream | US Open 2022 preview

Ninth seed Andrey Rublev and home hero Frances Tiafoe will collide in the Quarter-Finals of the 2022 US Open on Wednesday.

The duo go head-to-head for the second successive year at Flushing Meadows, with Tiafoe having edged a five-set thriller in the Third Round last time out.

Rublev has reached his third US Open Quarter-Final since 2017 and is bidding to surpass this stage of a Grand Slam at the seventh attempt.

Gold medallist at the 2020 Summer Olympics, Rublev has continued his consistent form in majors here in New York, starting with a marathon five-set win over Laslo Dere in Round One.

He then swept aside Kwon Soon-woo in straight sets, before recovering from two sets to one down to deny Denis Shapovalov in a pulsating fifth-set tie break and going on to defeat Cameron Norrie 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 in the Fourth Round.

The Russian is now 40-14 for the season and has picked up titles in Marseille, Dubai and Belgrade.

Tiafoe, meanwhile, comes in this contest on the back of an historic victory over Rafael Nadal, becoming the only player to defeat the Spaniard in a Grand Slam this year.

The American thrilled his home crowd at the Arthur Ashe Stadium to pull off the biggest win of his career so far, and now looks to back up that display in a quest to reach a first major Semi-Final.

The 24-year-old had stormed through the opening three rounds against Marcos Giron, Jason Kubler and Diego Schwartzman without dropping a set, before seeing off Nadal in four.

This will be his fifth Quarter-Final appearance of the season. Twice he has surpassed the Last Eight, finishing runner-up in Estoril and falling at the Semi-Final stage in Atlanta.

Either third seed Carlos Alcaraz or 11th seed Jannik Sinner will await the winner in the Semi-Finals.
