Two in-form players will square off in the third round of the 2021 US Open, as Sara Sorribes Tormo takes on Emma Raducanu on Saturday.
Sorribes Tormo has enjoyed a good run of form on hard courts over the past two months, having won 10 of her last 13 matches on this surface. She has registered six Quarter-Finals or better results this year, including in North American tournaments in Miami, Cleveland, and Montreal.
The Spaniard has recorded her career’s sixth and seventh Grand Slam main draw victories at this edition of the US Open, beating the likes of Karolina Muchova and Hsieh Su-Wei in straight sets.
Raducanu has also been in fantastic shape on hard courts lately, winning 11 of her last 14 matches on this surface. She recently finished as runner-up to Clara Tauson in the Chicago Challenger and began her US Open adventure from the qualifying stages.
Raducau has already played five matches here in New York and is yet to lose a single set. She defeated Voegele and Zhang in the opening two rounds of the main draw, dropping just eleven games in the process.
