Elina Svitolina and Simona Halep will square off in the Fourth Round of the 2021 US Open on Sunday.
Svitolina is currently on an eight-match winning streak, having dropped just two sets in the process. She has not lost a single set to enter the second week here in New York, having beaten the likes of Marino, Masarova, and Kasatkina.
The Ukrainian lifted her 16th title in the inaugural 250 event of Chicago a week ago. She reached the Semi-Finals of the US Open back in 2019 and will be looking to improve her 7-5 record in the fourth round of Grand Slams.
Meanwhile, Halep began her 2021 US Open campaign with two comfortable wins against Giorgi and Kucova. However, she needed two hours and 25 minutes against Elena Rybakina in the third round.
The Romanian player holds an excellent 15-4 win-loss record when bidding for a Grand Slam Quarter-Final. Simona reached the Semi-Finals of the US Open back in 2015, but her most recent appearance here ended in the second round.
