US Open 2022 | Day Four Preview and Order of Play

World number one Iga Swiatek faces former champion Sloane Stephens in the pick of the matches on day four at the US Open.

The second round continues at Flushing Meadows on Thursday, with three previous winners of the event in action.

One of which is home favourite Stephens, who lifted the trophy at Arthur Ashe Stadium in 2017. Although, she will have her work cut out against Swiatek.

The top seed is targeting her seventh silverware of a magnificent season so far, but has endured somewhat of a reality check in recent times after her 37-match winning streak was ended by Alize Cornet at Wimbledon.

Meanwhile, Rafael Nadal’s quest for a record-equalling fifth title resumes against Italy’s Fabio Fognini.

Second seed Nadal survived an early scare against Rinky Hijikata in round one, but recovered for his 20th successive victory in Grand Slam tournaments this year.

Compatriot Carlos Alcaraz takes on Federico Coria, who is targeting his maiden third-round appearance in New York. So too is Hubert Hurkacz; the eighth seed locking horns with Ilya Ivashka.

The same can be said for fourth seed Paula Badosa, who faces Petra Martic, as three-time runner-up Victoria Azarenka does battle with Marta Kostyuk.

Marin Cilic – champion here in 2014 – takes on Albert Ramos-Vinolas and Wimbledon semi-finalist Cameron Norrie clashes with Joao Sousa, as former US Open quarter-finalists Andrey Rublev and Diego Schwartzman play Soonwoo Kwon and Alexei Popyrin respectively.

2016 runner-up Karolina Pliskova goes head to head with Marie Bouzkova, and eighth seed Jessica Pegula faces Aliaksandra Sasnovich with Garbine Muguruza playing Linda Fruhvirtova.

Elsewhere, former semi-finalists Belinda Bencic and Aryna Sabalenka take on Sorana Cirstea and Kaia Kanepi respectively, as Jannik Sinner locks horns with Christopher Eubanks.
