Novak Djokovic looks to maintain his perfect record against Taylor Fritz when they collide in the Western & Southern Open quarter-finals.

The 23-time major winner has dominated the head-to-head record, prevailing in all six previous encounters for the loss of just two sets.

Center Court should be treated to another exciting encounter between the world number two and the home favourite, with a semi-final place at stake.

Djokovic has hit the ground running on his return to the United States, where he is aiming to complete a hat-trick of Cincinnati titles.

The Serb, who triumphed in 2018 and 2020, enjoyed a smooth transition through the second round following Alejandro Davidovich Fokina’s enforced retirement through injury, before he comfortably saw off a resurgent Gael Monfils 6-3, 6-2.

Meanwhile, Fritz has matched his performance of 12 months ago in Cincinnati after beating Jiri Lehecka, Lorenzo Sonego and Dusan Lajovic – the latter retiring through injury at the end of their first set.

Like Djokovic, the American is also a multiple ATP winner in 2023 following his triumphs at Delray Beach and Atlanta, while he has also reached a further six semi-finals.

Considering the nature of the head-to-head record, the prospect of reaching another here seems unlikely. But backed by his home crowd, he will hope it will be a lucky seventh meeting.

The winner of this match will play either Alexander Zverev or Adrian Mannarino in the Western & Southern Open semi-finals.

Play gets underway at around 1.30am BST on Saturday and will be contested over the best of three sets on Center Court.
