Aryna Sabalenka and Ons Jabeur lock horns in a blockbuster Western & Southern Open quarter-final showdown on Friday.

The pick of the last-eight ties in Cincinnati sees Sabalenka and Jabeur go head to head in a repeat of their Wimbledon semi-final last month, in which the Tunisian came from behind to prevail in three sets.

Jabeur will look to back that up and also make it third time lucky on hard courts, with Sabalenka winning both their previous encounters on surface at last year’s ATP Finals and Abu Dhabi in 2021.

The world number two went on to reach the final on both occasions – lifting the trophy in Abu Dhabi – and will hope that serves as a positive omen for her this time around.

Sabalenka is looking to land her fourth title of a season in which she has already triumphed at the Australian Open, Madrid Masters and Adelaide International.

Also a runner-up at Indian Wells and Stuttgart, she is now seeking her third Cincinnati semi-final in six appearances after defeating Ann Li 7-5, 2-6, 6-4 and Daria Kasatkina 6-3, 6-3.

Meanwhile, Jabeur is hoping to break new ground in the WTA 1000 by advancing to the last four for the first time.

The Tunisian, who battled past Anhelina Kalinina in round two, will arguably be the fresher after third-round opponent Donna Vekic was forced to retire injured in the latter stages of the first set in their encounter.

And the Wimbledon finalist will hope to use that to her advantage in her bid for a second trophy of the campaign, having already been victorious in Charleston.

The winner of this match will play either Karolina Muchova or Marie Bouzkova in the Western & Southern Open semi-finals.

Play gets underway at around 12am BST on Friday and will be contested over the best of three sets on Center Court.
