Carlos Alcaraz faces a tricky fourth-round test against grass-court specialist Matteo Berrettini at Wimbledon on Monday.
It promises to be a highly entertaining battle on Centre Court between the world number one and former finalist at SW19.
Their only previous grand slam encounter went down to a tie-break, with Berrettini prevailing in the third round of the 2022 Australian Open.
Both players have dropped just a single set so far, and whoever comes through here will certainly fancy their chances of going all the way at the All England Club.
Having matched his best performance at Wimbledon, where he also reached round four 12 months ago, Alcaraz will be looking to better that at the very least here.
The fourth-youngest player to reach the last 16 in successive years, the 20-year-old Spaniard overcame the French duo of Jeremy Chardy and Alexandre Muller in the opening two rounds, before battling past Nicolas Jarry in the third.
Alcaraz arrived at the grass-court major fresh from claiming his first title on surface at Queen’s Club, where Berrettini is a two-time champion.
The powerful Italian, who has also triumphed twice at Stuttgart, has already recorded straight-set victories over two seeds in Alex De Minaur (15th) and Alexander Zverev (19th) and is yet to concede a game on serve.
Runner-up to Novak Djokovic two years ago, Berrettini has won 13 of his first 16 matches at Wimbledon – the highest tally registered by any player in that span since Andre Agassi (14 wins).
The winner of this match will face either sixth seed Holger Rune or former semi-finalist Grigor Dimitrov in the last eight at Wimbledon.
Play gets underway at around 6pm BST on Monday and will be contested over the best of five sets on Centre Court.
