World number one Carlos Alcaraz continues his quest for Wimbledon glory with a Third Round tie against Nicolas Jarry on Saturday.
Alcaraz has followed up a record-breaking 2022 by establishing himself at the top of the ATP rankings this year following an 11th career title.
The 20-year-old sensation claimed glory at Indian Wells in March, as well as the Madrid Open the following month, and warmed up for Wimbledon in perfect fashion by winning Queen’s.
Last year, he became the youngest player to become ATP number one and scooped three awards including Player of The Year and Most Improved Player.
Alcaraz is making his third appearance at Wimbledon, where he hopes to add his name to the history books by becoming the youngest men’s singles champion here since Lleyton Hewitt in 2002.
The Spanish starlet swept aside veteran Jeremy Chardy 6-0, 6-2, 7-5 in Round One, before easing past Alexandre Müller 6-4, 7-6, 6-3.
He now comes up against Chilean number one Jarry – who is entering uncharted territory in this Championship.
The 27-year-old had not been beyond the Second Round stage in three previous Wimbledon appearances, but has seen off Marco Cecchinato and Jason Kubler to break new ground.
The world number 28 reached the Fourth Round at Roland Garros this year and is out to pull off a huge upset in what is arguably the biggest match of his career to date.
Either 19th seed Alexander Zverev or 2021 finalist Matteo Berrettini will await the winner in the Fourth Round next week.
Play gets underway at 1.30pm BST on Centre Court on Saturday and will be contested over the best of five sets.
