Novak Djokovic vs Nick Kyrgios: Djokovic to find glory once more

The final of the men’s tournament at Wimbledon is set with reigning Wimbledon champion, Novak Djokovic, taking on world number 40 in the world, Nick Kyrgios.

Djokovic hasn’t been at his best this tournament, being pushed all the way by Jannik Sinner in the quarter final before having to fight back against Britain’s Cameron Norrie in the semi-final. His route to the quarter final was a little easier but another Wimbledon trophy is far from a foregone conclusion this Sunday.

Kyrgios most definitely had an easier route to get to the final, mainly due to his semi final walkover of Rafael Nadal after the Spaniard had to withdraw from the competition with an abdominal injury. The Australian had his own troubles reaching that semi final though, being taken to five sets by both Paul Jubb and Brandon Nakashima before battling his way through.

This match should be one for the ages with Kyrgios playing his best tennis and Djokovic having so much class, especially on grass. Both men should be really competitive and it wouldn’t be a big surprise to see the match go to five sets. Both men were taken to five sets in the last match they played, and with huge temperatures expected on Sunday, fatigue could lead to both men failing to capitalise on their chances.

Whilst Kyrgios is almost at the top of his game, there isn’t much accounting for Djokovic’s experience in SW19 and we’re backing the Serb to come out of this match with the trophy. He certainly won’t have it all his own way though and Kyrgios could spring a surprise or two along the way. Ultimately, we’re backing Djokovic to collect his seventh Wimbledon trophy with a 3-2 win.
