Novak Djokovic hits yet another milestone when he locks horns with Andrey Rublev in the Wimbledon quarter-finals on Tuesday.
A mouth-watering clash in the last eight at the All England Club sees the seven-time and reigning champion go toe to toe with the seventh seed on Centre Court.
The pair are facing off for the second time at this stage of a grand slam in 2023, with Djokovic enjoying a dominant 6-1, 6-2, 6-4 victory on the way to lifting the Australian Open.
For the Serb, this will be his 400th match in the main draw of a grand slam, becoming only the third player to reach the landmark in the Open Era after Roger Federer and Serena Williams.
It will also be his 56th major quarter-final and 14th at Wimbledon – tallies only bettered by Federer (58 and 18).
Despite dropping his first set of the fortnight, Djokovic battled past big-serving Hubert Hurkacz in the fourth round for his 90th win from 100 matches at SW19 (90 per cent). Only Bjorn Borg boasts a better winning percentage at the grass-court major (92.7).
Rublev is the latest player attempting to prevent his surge towards a record-equalling eighth title, and the seventh seed will likely pose his greatest threat thus far.
The reigning Monte Carlo Masters champion boasts an impressive 73.1 per cent career win rate on grass, with only Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz possessing a better percentage among the ATP’s top 20 players.
Rublev was taken the distance by Alexander Bublik in the previous round, but eventually prevailed to complete the sweep of major quarter-final appearances.
Now eyeing his first semi-final, the 25-year-old knows what it takes to defeat Djokovic when the stakes are high, having prevailed when they met in last year’s final in Belgrade.
The winner of this match will play either eighth seed Jannik Sinner or debutant Roman Safiullin in the last four at Wimbledon.
Play gets underway at around 3.30pm BST on Tuesday and will be contested over the best of five sets on Centre Court.
