Coco Gauff begins her latest mission for maiden grand slam glory against Sofia Kenin in the opening round at Wimbledon on Monday.
An all-American clash pits the former French Open finalist against the former Australian Open champion at SW19.
Gauff has reached at least the third round in each of her three previous appearances at Wimbledon, but is still seeking her first venture into the quarter-finals and beyond.
The teenager has generally struggled to produce her best on grass, but enjoyed a timely upturn in fortunes by reaching the semi-finals at Eastbourne last time out – signalling the best performance of her career on surface.
Having also reached the French Open quarter-finals, Gauff has momentum as she looks to go deep at the All England Club.
The 19-year-old prevailed in straight sets on the way to triumphing in Auckland when she faced Kenin earlier this year.
A champion in Melbourne three years ago, the latter went on to reach as high as fourth in the WTA rankings, before a battle with injuries saw her slip outside the top 100.
Kenin reached the semi-finals in Hobart in January, but has since reached the last 16 at just two events.
The 24-year-old is yet to progress beyond the second round at Wimbledon in three previous attempts, but has tasted success on grass having reigned in Mallorca in 2019.
She is also relatively fresh from a morale-boosting victory over the in-form Australian Open champion Aryna Sabalenka in Rome a few weeks ago.
The winner of this match, which will be contested over the best of three sets on Monday, will play either Storm Hunter or Wang Xinyu in the second round at Wimbledon.
