World number one Iga Swiatek will face rank outsider Jana Fett in the first round of the 2022 Wimbledon on Tuesday.
Swiatek is without doubt the best female player on the circuit after recently winning titles in Doha, Indian Wells, Miami, Stuttgart, Rome, and Roland Garros. She has been unstoppable in the last four months and is currently on a 35-match winning streak.
She has not played any tournaments in the run-up to Wimbledon, but this shouldn’t be a concern for the Pole. Her most recent match on grass was at Wimbledon last year where she lost to Ons Jabeur in the Round of 16.
She is now tied with Venus Williams for the longest winning streak this century and a win against Fett today will see the Pole breaking this record.
Meanwhile, Fett has been inconsistent before the beginning of the grass season. However, she managed to put together some good results on this surface this month. Fett has won five of her eight matches on grass, including three qualifiers here at Wimbledon.
Jana’s best performance in a Grand Slam was a second-round appearance at the Australian Open back in 2018 when she had two match points in her match against Wozniacki.
We expect Iga to comfortably win this match, so our prediction is Asian Handicap -7.5 Games on the Pole.
