Ons Jabeur looks to continue her attempts to win her first Grand Slam when he takes on Zhuoxuan Bai in the second round of Wimbledon.
Jabeur, last year’s defeated finalist, will look to go one better this year and claim her maiden Grand Slam title. A convincing, straight set victory over Magdalena Fręch in the first round has set up this tie.
The 28-year-old has shown plenty of progression on the grass courts, improving her finish on each of her last three appearances and her assured first round win has increased confidence that this could be her year.
Bai made her Grand Slam debut in the first round, impressing with a straight sets victory over Ysaline Bonaventure. At just 20, the future looks bright for Bai and this match represents her biggest challenge on the courts to date.
A ranking of 191 might indicate a big gulf in class between these two athletes but Bai’s age masks a player that is likely to be a lot more prominent in the Grand Slams moving forward.
The winner of this match will play either Bianca Andreescu or Anhelina Kalinina in the third round at Wimbledon.
Play gets underway at around 4.30pm BST on Friday and will be contested over the best of three sets on No.1 Court.
