A hugely exciting quarter-final in the Women’s Draw as the 2022 finalists, Ons Jabeur and Elena Rybakina, face off on Centre Court.
Both players have looked in supreme form in The Championships. Ons Jabeur played a phenomenal match in the last round as she served up a bagel to the well-fancied Petra Kvitova. The Tunisian lost a set to Bianca Andreescu in the third round, but fought back impressively in that one too. She has had a tough route, but it prepares her immaculately for this test.
Rybakina came into The Championships under something of a cloud, and it was perhaps no surprise when she lost the opening set of the tournament to Shelby Rogers. However, that match seemed to play the defending champion into form and she hasn’t looked back since.
The head-to-head between the pair stands at a tantalising 2-2. The last meeting was that Wimbledon final last year, in which Jabeur took the first set before Rybakina went into overdrive. The tennis that Rybakina played in those two sets may be difficult for Jabeur to contend with.
Jabeur has stated in press that she is going to try and use this match for a bit of revenge. We really do have everything to look forward to in this match.
Ultimately the power and skill of Elena Rybakina makes her the favourite to progress here, it will take something special from Jabeur to gain that revenge.
The winner of this match will play either Madison Keys or Australian Open champion Aryna Sabalenka in the last four at Wimbledon.
Play gets underway at 1.30pm BST on Wednesday and will be contested over the best of three sets on Centre Court.
