Karolina Pliskova and Tereza Martincova will square off in the third round of the Wimbledon 2021 today at 13.00pm (UK Time).
It has been a rough season for Karolina Pliskova, who has failed to secure consecutive victories in nine of her 12 tournaments prior to the Wimbledon. Her best performance was the final in Rome 1000 almost two months ago, but she has struggled since then. She began her grass swing with back-to-back defeats in the opening rounds of the Berlin Open and Eastbourne, but made a start strong here in Wimbledon. Karolina won both her matches against Zidansek and Vekic without dropping a single set in the process. In her previous appearance at Wimbledon 2019, Pliskova lost in three sets against Muchova in the round of 16.
Meanwhile, Tereza Martincova has already played ten matches on the grass surface and has won eight in the process. Prior to Wimbledon, Martincova did well to reach the quarterfinals in Birmingham where she lost in three sets against Daria Kastkina. Here at Wimbledon, Tereza took out Alison Riske in three sets in the opening round and then beat Nadia Podoroska in straight sets in the second round. Martincova’s recent form on grass has been great and she definitely has her chance here against Pliskova.
