Two-time champion Andy Murray gets his 2022 Wimbledon campaign under way with a clash against James Duckworth on Centre Court on Monday.

Murray, winner here in 2013 and 2016, aims to roll back the years in front of an adoring SW19 crowd in what could be perhaps his last hurrah.

Murray made a dream start to the grass court season by reaching a final at the first time of asking in Stuttgart, knocking out Stefanos Tsitsipas and Nick Kyrgios along the way before being denied glory by Italian star Matteo Berrettini.

Murray, who underwent career-saving hip surgery in 2019, pulled out of the recent Cinch Championships at Queen’s Club as a precaution after fitness concerns.

Now ranked world number 52, Murray reached the final of the Sydney Classic at the beginning of the year but has not won an ATP Tour singles title since 2019.

The former world number one will return to Wimbledon with renewed confidence after his showing in Stuttgart but is situated in the same section of the draw as the likes of Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner.

His first test comes in the shape of Australian James Duckworth – who reached the Third Round at Wimbledon last year.

Duckworth represented Australia at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and 2022 ATP Cup, and victories over Radu Albot and Sam Querrey here last year saw him reach the Third Round of a Grand Slam for the first time, with Lorenzo Sonego ending that run.

Murray has won each of his two previous meetings with Duckworth – at the 2018 US Open and Brisbane the following year.

Either France’s Enzo Couacaud or 2018 semi-finalist John Isner will await the winner in the Second Round later this week.

Murray v Duckworth is available to watch via a live stream on desktop, mobile or tablet devices from approximately 5.30pm BST.
