Rafael Nadal will continue his quest for a 23rd Grand Slam when he takes on Botic Van De Zandschulp in the round of 16 of Wimbledon on Monday.
Nadal dropped a set in each of his first two matches at Wimbledon 2022 but finally registered a dominating victory in the following round. The Spaniard demolished Lorenzo Sonego in under two hours, dropping just seven games in the process.
Rafa has won his last 15 matches in the round of 16 of Grand Slams. Nadal has won four titles so far this season, including the Australian Open and the French Open.
Nadal has won Wimbledon on two occasions and now he is just one match away from reaching his eighth Quarter-Final at SW19.
The 36-year-old has claimed back-to-back major titles for the first time since 2010 and now has the opportunity to challenge for a first seasonal Grand Slam.
Van De Zandschulp is in the midst of a solid season, which culminated recently with a final in Munich on clay and semi-finals at Queen’s Club on grass.
He has won six of his nine matches on grass recently, including three victories at Wimbledon last week over Feliciano Lopez, Emil Ruusuvuori and Richard Gasquet.
The Dutch talent has been stopped only by top-5 players in the previous three Grand Slams, including a recent loss against Rafael Nadal at the French Open.
