Title favourite Ons Jabeur will take on Tatjana Maria in the Semi-Finals of Wimbledon 2022 on Thursday.
Jabeur has extended her winning streak on grass to ten matches after defeating Marie Bouzkova in the Quarter-Finals. It was the toughest test she had in Wimbledon this fortnight as she was broken twice in the first set and had to come back from a set down to win the match.
The Tunisian star broke a couple of records after her quarterfinal victory, including becoming the first Arab or North African player to reach the Semi-Finals of a Grand Slam.
Overall, Jabeur has won eight of her 11 career Semi-Finals. She has reached four finals so far this season, having won titles in Madrid and Berlin.
Meanwhile, Maria also fought back from one set down to defeat German fellow Jule Niemeier in the Quarter-Finals. It is worthy to mention that Tatjana has had a bumpy road at Wimbledon this fortnight as she dropped a set in four of her five matches.
Furthermore, she defeated two solid opponents in the shape of Maria Sakkari and Jelena Ostapenko en route to the Semi-Finals.
Before Wimbledon 2022, 33 of Maria’s 34 Grand Slam campaigns ended in the First Round or Second Round.
Tatjana is now the oldest first-time major semi-finalist in the Open Era and she is one win away to become the second-lowest ranked player to make a Wimbledon final in nearly 40 years.
