Holger Rune aims to continue his ground-breaking run at Wimbledon when he plays Grigor Dimitrov in the fourth round on Monday.
The final match of the day on No.1 Court provides a battle of youth with experience, as the 20-year-old faces the 2014 semi-finalist for a place in the last eight.
Sixth seed Rune is making only his second appearance at the grass-court major, and is now looking to reach his third quarter-final at a grand slam.
The young Dane has endured a contrasting run. After defeating George Loffhagen and Roberto Carballes Baena in straight sets, it looked like he may be heading for the exit in round three when trailing Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in a fifth-set tie-break.
But Rune, a winner in Munich and runner-up in Rome this season, demonstrated maturity beyond his age to dig deep and secure a dramatic victory.
He will need to show that again when he does battle with a player boasting a proven track record on grass.
It is now nine years since Dimitrov beat reigning champion Andy Murray on the way to the Wimbledon semi-finals – less than a month after triumphing at Queen’s Club.
That represented his only previous venture beyond the fourth round at SW19, and he would love to replicate that this year.
The Bulgarian is certainly in the form to do so. Yet to drop a set in his first three matches, he is fresh from taking out 10th seed Frances Tiafoe for only the third top-10 victory of his career on grass.
The winner of this match will play either top seed Carlos Alcaraz or 2021 runner-up Matteo Berrettini in the quarter-finals at Wimbledon.
Play gets underway at around 5.30pm BST on Monday and will be contested over the best of five sets on No.1 Court.
