Alexander Zverev and Matteo Berrettini go head-to-head in a blockbuster Third Round clash at Wimbledon on Saturday.
The first meeting between the box office duo on grass sees them face off on Court No.1 for a place in the Last 16.
Zverev, the no.19 seed, is aiming to reach the Fourth Round at Wimbledon for the third time, though he is yet to progress any further in what is a below-par record by his standards.
The former US Open finalist and Olympic gold medallist reached the Semi-Finals of the French Open last month but has not picked up a title on the tour since 2021.
Zverev saw off Dutch qualifier Gijs Brouwer in straight sets before fending off a tricky test from Japan’s Yosuke Watanuki to prevail in four.
He now comes up against 2021 Wimbledon finalist Berrettini – who is unseeded in the draw after dropping to 37th in the world rankings.
Little was expected of the Italian star coming into this tournament given his lengthy lay-off through injury this season which forced him to miss the French Open.
Nonetheless, Berrettini has dug deep to register two impressive wins this week, recovering from a set down to defeat compatriot Lorenzo Sonego in a match played across three days.
He then made light work of 15th seed Alex de Minaur, coming through in straight sets to continue his return to form.
Zverev has won four of their previous five meetings over the past five years, all having come in ATP 1000 events.
Either world number one Carlos Alcaraz or Nicolas Jarry of Chile will await the winner in the Fourth Round next week.
Play gets underway from around 6pm BST on Court No.1 on Saturday and will be contested over the best of five sets.
